Warm Up and Cool Down to Get the Best
E-Marketing Results

July 31, 2008

E-mail marketing. It is one of the most quick and inexpensive ways to get your message out to your members. But, are you doing it right? Get your messages read and protect you DNS (Domain Name System) with these simple strategies provided in "Spinning Your Way to Email Marketing Success," by Louis Chatoff from MarketingProfs.com.

  • Warm Up - verify that you have a reliable list and that you have a credible presence online. For most financial institutions, you will likely have a professional and trustworthy presence online, but depending on how you manage your email list, you may have a problem. If you have 10% or more undeliverable email address, you will likely be red flagged by ISPs!

  • Pump It Up - make sure the "From" field identifies your organization and the subject line identifies the purpose of your message. For best results, write targeted copy to a specific group of members.

  • Cool Down - analyze your report. Open rates, click throughs, unsubscribed and bounce emails should all be looked at carefully to see what is working and what needs to be improved.

  • Chatoff's most important advice? "Relax, stay focused, and breath." It takes time, energy, and determination to build a successful e-mail marketing program. So keep at it!
